Joliet, IL – Super Independent Baseball has announced that Jim Miksis, current pitching coach for the Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League, will manage in the 2009 SIB Fall League.
Jim has worked in the Florida Marlins organization as well as serving as a scout for the Boston Red Sox. Most recently Jim served as pitching coach for the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League prior to joining the Flyers in 2009.
“Jim has extensive experience both at the Major League level as well as within independent professional baseball,” said SIB President Jamie Toole, “Having a guy with Jim’s experience and attitude towards player development in the league is going to be a positive for all of the fall league players.”
“I feel the fall league will provide a great opportunity for players across the country to show their ability in front of decision makers within the independent professional baseball industry,” said Miksis.
The Fall League will consist of a player combine, a player draft, an 18 game regular season, and a college World Series style playoff. Managers for the fall league will include current independent professional baseball managers, pitching coaches, and hitting instructors as well as current MLB associate scouts.
